Before I started Fullsail I lived in New York City for fourteen years pursuing an acting career. I originally attended Fordham University on a Baseball scholarship but soon learned I wanted a life in the performing arts instead.
I had always thought I wanted to be on Broadway, performing in front of packed houses and living the dream. I was the lead in every play I auditioned for and genuinely had the talent and work ethic for a future on the stage.
But then the paradigm changed and well paying union jobs started shrinking by the day as youtube and social media became the new norm to get agency representation. I became the prototypical "Starving Artist", flat out of money and resources and living without a Business degree to secure my future.
Because of that I started working more and more in the restaurant and bar industry. I was mentored by a now, very high acclaimed restaurateur.
Because of that I started climbing the corporate ladder as management in premier venues in Manhattan. I put myself in situations where I was the man with a Plan in swinging hip places, booking acts and running the show.
Because of that my performance career died and along with it the dream I once worked so hard to achieve so I could pay my own bills in my 20's. I was lost, alone, and working until 5am every night gripping to the fantasy that I was still an actor.
Until finally I quit Hospitality and eventually found a job broadcasting E-Sports tournaments for Mixer.com at the Microsoft flagship store on 5th Avenue. I was out of my league in terms of content knowledge, (I'm not a true gamer) but found a love of broadcasting competitions in a professional studio environment.
And ever since I decided to pursue my passion for Media by taking a leap of faith and enrolling in the Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting and starting a new life in Orlando. I must continually remind myself that age is a number and that my fate has lead me here.
